In the first 8 months of this year, Can Tho City granted new business registrations to an estimated 1,184 enterprises with a total registered capital of VND10,429 billion, an increase of 2.9% in the number of enterprises and 24.7% in capital over the same period.

According to information from the Department of Planning and Investment of Can Tho City, in the first 8 months of this year, the city has newly registered an estimated 1,184 enterprises with a total registered capital of VND10,429 billion, reaching 65.6% of the plan in terms of number of enterprises and 80.22% of the plan in terms of capital, up 2.9% in terms of number of enterprises and up 24.7% in terms of capital compared to the same period. In addition, an estimated 315 enterprises have returned to operation, up 7.5% over the same period.

However, during the same period, in Can Tho City, there were 785 businesses temporarily suspending operations, an increase of 36% over the same period; along with that, there were 134 businesses voluntarily dissolved, a decrease of 21.6% over the same period.

Regarding attracting domestic investment (outside industrial parks), in the first 8 months of 2024, the city had 4 new projects with registered investment capital of 727,635 billion VND (2 projects were approved by the City People's Committee in principle and approved by investors, 2 projects were granted Investment Registration Certificates); revoked 1 project. Along with that, 3 new foreign direct investment projects were granted with registered capital of more than 622,757 USD; at the same time, 1 project was terminated with registered capital of 150,000 USD. Up to now, in Can Tho City, there are 83 foreign direct investment projects with a total registered investment capital of nearly 2,276 million USD.

In the first 8 months of this year, Can Tho export processing and industrial zones attracted 1 new investment project with a total registered investment capital of 1.18 million USD; 4 projects were adjusted with a total adjusted investment capital increase of 19.81 million USD.
