Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan: Building Phu My Dong commune into a growth pillar of the province

(gialai.gov.vn) – On the morning of September 13, Comrade Pham Anh Tuan – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee had a working session with the People's Committee of Phu My Dong commune on the operation of the organizational apparatus and the direction and management of the socio-economic development of the commune. Attending the working session were leaders of the following departments and branches: Finance; Agriculture and Environment; Home Affairs; Construction; Office of the Provincial People's Committee; Provincial Police and the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board.

Inheriting the results achieved from the local reality before the merger, Phu My Dong commune has determined to innovate, make breakthroughs, be creative, proactive, dare to think, dare to do to fulfill at the highest level the local socio -economic development goals and tasks in 2025, contributing to creating a solid foundation to achieve double-digit growth in the period 2026-2030.

Accordingly, the total value of products in the third quarter (at 2010 comparable prices) in the commune is estimated at about 820.53 billion VND, an increase of 5.91% over the same period in 2024, reaching 54.78% of the plan for the last 6 months of the year. The total value of implemented products reached about 86.59 billion VND, an increase of 25.18%; of which: Industry is about 59.77 billion VND (an increase of 25.18%), Construction is 26.82 billion VND (an increase of 6.85% over the same period).

The commune focuses on disbursing public investment capital, especially for key projects, works and national target programs. The total capital plan assigned is 44,179 billion VND; to date, 41,257 billion VND has been disbursed and paid (reaching 93.38% of the plan); the remaining unpaid budget is 2,922 billion VND.

Trade and service activities are always encouraged and facilitated to expand both in scale and quality of goods, contributing to promptly meeting the shopping needs of the people. Cultural and social work is given attention; national defense, security and social order and safety continue to be maintained.

At the meeting, the leaders of Phu My Dong commune proposed and recommended that the province pay attention to supporting the locality to soon approve the commune's master plan; at the same time, pay attention to allocating capital to upgrade and expand the Deo Nhong - My Tho route (from My Tho intersection to the DT.639 road), implement the resettlement project for natural disaster areas in My Thang commune (old), invest in upgrading schools, medical stations, radio stations and allocate additional staff quotas for public service units in the area.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of Phu My Dong commune in operating and implementing the 2-level local government model. He requested the commune's political system to continue promoting great solidarity, strengthening unity, focusing on democracy, aiming at the goal of building and developing a strong Phu My Dong commune; building a creative government, close to the people, serving the people.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that after the merger, Phu My Dong commune is identified as the "iron fist", the main growth pillar of the province in the coming period. The province has planned and designed the commune to be located entirely on the development axis of Phu My district before. Therefore, in the coming time, the commune needs to focus on implementing well the work of site clearance to serve the development of industrial parks, especially the processing and manufacturing industry associated with seaports and logistics. In addition, he noted that the locality should pay attention to the work of urban and rural beautification, raising community awareness in environmental protection, aiming to build smart, green and environmentally friendly urban areas; gradually turning rural residential areas into "a beautiful picture". The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that if the above requirements are well implemented, Phu My Dong will become the strongest, fastest, most effective growth pole and the locality that brings the largest revenue to the province.

The head of the provincial government expressed his belief that, with the highest political determination and the synchronous participation of the entire political system from the provincial to the communal level, Phu My Dong will successfully complete the set goals and tasks. The province aims to achieve the goal that within the next 5 years, Phu My Dong will make a strong breakthrough, develop its socio-economy on par with developed localities in the province; and entering the next term, it will rise to be among the group of developed communes and wards nationwide.
