Vietnam welcomes the Resolution on ceasefire in the Gaza Strip adopted by the United Nations Security Council, creating the basis for a lasting ceasefire.

On the afternoon of March 27, in response to a reporter's question about Vietnam's reaction to the United Nations Security Council's adoption of a resolution on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang affirmed: "Vietnam welcomes Resolution 2728 on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip adopted by the United Nations Security Council on March 25." Vietnam calls on relevant parties to immediately implement the resolution in order to achieve a long-term and sustainable ceasefire in the region, step up humanitarian aid, and protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.

"Vietnam supports all efforts of the international community in urging parties to exercise restraint, engage in dialogue, and resolve disputes by peaceful means, on the basis of respect for international law and relevant resolutions of the Security Council, in order to soon reach a fair, satisfactory and lasting solution for the Middle East peace process," the Spokesperson stressed. The resolution, which received support from 14 members of the Security Council, calls for an immediate ceasefire for the holy month of Ramadan, creating the basis for a lasting ceasefire. The adopted resolution also calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages. This is the first time the council has called for a ceasefire since the war began in October last year. In addition, the resolution also emphasizes the importance of expanding humanitarian aid and reaffirms the need to remove all barriers to the provision of large-scale humanitarian aid. According to statistics from the health authorities in the Gaza Strip, at least 32,333 Palestinians have been killed and 74,694 injured since the conflict broke out in Gaza in October 2023. Meanwhile, Israeli statistics show that the conflict has killed 1,160 people, mostly civilians in this country. The conflict has also left millions of people in Gaza on the brink of starvation.
