CBS News said in a statement on October 1 that both the presidential campaigns of US Vice President Kamala Harris (Democrat) and former President Donald Trump (Republican) have agreed to share on the network's "60 Minutes" program.
However, CBS News reported on October 1 that former President Trump's campaign later decided not to participate.

In response, former President Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung asserted that the CBS News claim was “fake news.” Mr. Cheung explained on X: “There have been discussions but no interviews have been scheduled or finalized.”
According to Fox News, "60 Minutes" is scheduled to air a primetime election special at 8 p.m. on October 7. This is the highest-rated news program on American television with a tradition of more than half a century of inviting two presidential candidates to participate in separate interviews near election day.
Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to speak with CBS News correspondent Bill Whitaker. The "60 Minutes" special will mark Harris' third interview with a major U.S. media outlet, following interviews on MSNBC and CNN.
The announcement by CBS News comes just hours before the Republican and Democratic vice presidential debate, which will give Republican Sen. JD Vance and Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz a chance to introduce themselves, pitch their strategies and showcase their political chops.
