Bad news for Arsenal

Arsenal will be without William Saliba for around four weeks, after the French centre-back suffered an injury in the defeat to Liverpool on August 31.

Saliba will be out for about a month.

According to L'Equipe , Saliba will be out for a month due to an ankle injury he suffered early in the match at Anfield. Saliba was also absent from the French national team's training camp in September. Previously, Arteta revealed that Saliba's injury actually occurred during the warm-up, before he was allowed to start.

"The Spaniard will probably regret it now," said Goal . "After a 1-0 defeat to the reigning champions at Anfield, losing one of their most important players for a long time will be a hard blow for Arsenal to swallow."

Saliba is hoping to be fit for the trip to Newcastle on 28 September or the game against Olympiacos at the Emirates three days later. He will miss key games including the clash with Manchester City and the Champions League opener against Athletic Bilbao.

In the summer transfer window of 2025, Arsenal signed Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hancapie as backup options. Either of these two players could replace Saliba in the near future.

Saliba was ruled out for the 2022/23 season with a back injury, which cost Arsenal the top spot to Man City in the final weeks. Arsenal fans will hope that Arteta's efforts to strengthen the squad this summer will help the club avoid the negative impact of Saliba's injury.
