Lai Chau Literature and Arts Magazine in the general flow of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism

Over the past 44 years since its establishment under Resolution No. 125, dated July 20, 1981 of the Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee (old), Lai Chau Literature and Arts Magazine, the mouthpiece of the provincial Literature and Arts Association, has persistently pursued its mission of being a bridge between the Party and the people through literary and artistic activities, while also playing the role of a place to gather, discover and nurture local literary and artistic talents.
From the early days of lacking facilities and a small staff, up to now, Lai Chau Literature and Arts Magazine has gradually grown. Each publication is a crystallization of artistic creativity and social responsibility. The magazine now has a regular printed publication (published 12 issues/year with 1,300 copies to 400 addresses in the province and 84 addresses outside the province nationwide) and a website https://vanhocnghethuatlaichau.vn/, in line with the digital transformation trend of modern journalism.
Lai Chau Literature and Arts Magazine always clearly identifies its position as a press agency operating under the leadership of the Party, ensuring the correct principles and purposes. The works and articles published in the magazine always demonstrate patriotism and national spirit, vividly reflecting the renovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland in the highland border areas. Through genres such as poetry, short stories, memoirs, literary criticism, music , and the flavor of the Muong people, the magazine has truly reflected the lives of ethnic minorities in Lai Chau, clarifying the changes of the border area under the light of the Party's resolutions. These works not only have artistic value but also have profound propaganda value, helping people to have more confidence in the leadership of the Party and the State. Many works published in the magazine demonstrate the depth of national cultural identity and the unique aesthetic value of Lai Chau.

In the field of folk arts, there are cultural researchers such as: Do Thi Tac, Lo Van Chien, Dieu Van Thuyen, Hu Co Xuan. In the field of literature, there are authors: Huynh Nguyen, Thanh Luan, Dao Chinh, Bui Thi Son, Phung Hai Yen, Dinh Hong Nhung, Pham Dao. In the field of photography, there are authors: Ngoc Thang, Tung Giang, Bui Tien Dung. In the field of fine arts, there are authors: Nguyen Hung Cuong, Ha Minh Hung, Bui Tien Dung, Nguyen The Truc, Nguyen Van Dieu, Huynh Nghia Binh. In the field of music, there are Meritorious Artist Minh Cu, musicians Vuong Khon, To Van, Thanh Chung. In the field of dance, there are artists Po Nhu Nu, Ca Thi Tham... There have been 4 members who won the Literature and Arts Award of Vietnamese Ethnic Minorities; 1 author won the first prize of the Poetry Contest of the Vietnam Women's Union; 4 authors won the second prize for studying and following the ideology, morality, and style of Ho Chi Minh in 2025; 1 author won the Gold Medal at the Northern Mountainous Region Art Photography Festival in 2022; 1 author won the A prize in the Short Story Contest of the Ministry of Public Security ; 1 author won the Silver Medal at the Asian Music Festival; 1 author won the Young Author Award of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations; writer Do Thi Tac won the Impressive Female Writer Award in 2024 of the Vietnam Writers Association... This is an important contribution to preserving the national soul, while enriching the treasure trove of Vietnamese literature and arts.
Besides the achievements, Lai Chau Literature Magazine is also facing many difficulties: the number of regular writers and in-depth works is still low; there are not many works that effectively exploit materials from modern life in the highlands; the spread of the Magazine outside the province is still limited...
In that situation, to continue to affirm its position in the revolutionary press, Lai Chau Literature and Arts Magazine needs to encourage works of discovery, rich in local materials in genres such as short stories, memoirs, essays, poems, etc. to increase the attractiveness and effectiveness of communication; the presentation form needs to be innovated to meet the increasingly high aesthetic tastes of readers. At the same time, develop the Lai Chau Literature and Arts website to help readers easily search, integrate sharing features via social networks and allow quick interaction; strengthen links and exchange articles with literature and arts magazines in the Northwest region and the whole country; organize writing camps, seminars, and training courses on journalism and literature and arts to improve the quality of the writing team, etc.
It can be said that, in the general flow of Vietnam's revolutionary press, Lai Chau Literature and Arts Magazine is a small but particularly meaningful branch - a place where love for the homeland, national pride and aspirations to rise from the border region crystallize. With the attention of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations and the unceasing efforts of the collective of cadres and artists, we believe that the magazine will continue to develop steadily, contributing to enriching and enriching the cultural and spiritual life of the people, worthy of being a trusted address in the hearts of readers inside and outside the province.
