Commenting on Facebook’s global outage late on March 5, Technical Director of National Cyber Security Technology Joint Stock Company (NCS), cyber security expert Vu Ngoc Son said that in less than a week, the world’s largest social network Meta had experienced serious incidents. This raised security concerns for Facebook users as well as other Meta social networking platforms.

The incident on the evening of March 5th occurred globally, not just in Vietnam. Hundreds of millions of users of the above applications were affected.

Cybersecurity expert Vu Ngoc Son warns users to be vigilant against Facebook incidents.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Son said that within just a few days, two consecutive incidents occurred with Facebook - the world's largest social networking platform.

First was the 0-day vulnerability that allowed hackers to remotely take control of accounts without any user action. Then came the global Facebook outage. Although Facebook has been restored, users need to be extremely vigilant against "copycat" services whose goal is nothing more than to scam and attack users.

“Normally, hackers will be very 'sensitive' to events like this, there will be many forms of imitation such as 'Facebook login instructions when encountering errors', 'fastest way to recover passwords'... are given to take advantage of users' lack of vigilance" , Mr. Vu Ngoc Son emphasized.

“If not careful, users can follow the instructions and access fraudulent websites, thereby losing account information and passwords,” the cybersecurity expert added.

According to Mr. Vu Ngoc Son, to avoid this, users need to stay calm in all situations. If you cannot log in to your Facebook account, “slow down a bit”, do not rush to find a way to log back in or recover your password immediately, but ask your friends if they have encountered the same problem. If many people encounter it, we should wait for the service provider to issue a notice and resolve the problem.

Regarding the global Facebook incident, on the morning of March 6, a Meta representative confirmed that a technical problem caused people to have difficulty accessing some of the company's platforms on the evening of March 5.

The incident occurred between 10pm and 12am on March 5. Accordingly, the accounts of users of Facebook, Instagram, Messenger... applications were suddenly logged out and could not be logged back in. The situation lasted until 11:30pm, when many users were able to log back in.

By the morning of March 6, most Facebook users were able to log in and use the above applications normally again.
