Rashford takes pay cut to join Barcelona

Marcus Rashford has expressed his willingness to play for his favourite team Barcelona this summer.

Mundo Deportivo said one of the key factors that helped Barcelona welcome Rashford was the striker's decision to take a pay cut. The source said Rashford was willing to give up 25% of his salary (about £81,250 out of a total of £325,000) to play for the Catalan club.

Barcelona are expected to pay Rashford's entire wages during the loan spell, which is around £243,000 a week. Rashford's pay cut will also allow Barcelona to register him in La Liga.

Mundo Deportivo added that Barcelona expect MU to not include a mandatory buyout clause in the contract. The Catalan club are also only willing to pay a £26 million transfer fee if they sign Rashford permanently. Previously, MU demanded £40 million for the English striker.

However, agreeing to pay the 27-year-old's full wages shows a great deal of determination from Barcelona. Manager Hansi Flick wants to add a quality winger, after talks with Nico Williams and Luis Diaz broke down.

Rashford can play well on both the left wing and the center forward, making him an ideal target to rotate for the trio of Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.

Currently, Rashford is training alone at MU to maintain his fitness, ready to join a new club.
