The Daily Mail reported that the car crash into the crowd happened outside The Vermont nightclub in East Hollywood, Los Angeles, USA, at around 2:00 a.m. on July 19 (local time).
Witnesses described chaotic scenes on Santa Monica Boulevard after a driver plowed into a crowd, injuring at least 31 people, nine of them seriously.
People were waiting in line to enter the nightclub when a Nissan Versa hit them, then continued to hit a taco truck and a counter, according to Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Van Gerpen.
Police said the driver was pulled from the car by passersby and shot. He was later taken to hospital with injuries.

A witness told NBC News that he was inside the nightclub when he heard a "loud bang" and saw chaos outside.
Debris from a grey car could also be seen on the sidewalk outside the nightclub.
Several sources told the LA Times that the driver had been kicked out of the nightclub for causing trouble and being drunk, before the crash occurred.
In a statement, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass condemned the "heartbreaking tragedy" and called for an investigation into the incident.
"This is an ongoing police investigation. This will be a large-scale investigation involving the Los Angeles Police Department," said Capt. Van Gerpen.
