As an excellent student for many years with many city and provincial level awards, recently in the 2025 High School Graduation Exam, Pham Thi Hau excellently achieved 29 points in block C00 and chose to study at Hue University of Education.
Overcoming difficulties to study
In the coastal fishing village of Tam Tien commune, Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam province (old), now Tam Xuan commune, Da Nang city, everyone knows the student Pham Thi Hau, who was orphaned but had great determination to overcome difficulties and excel in her studies.
When Hau was in 5th grade, his mother unfortunately died in an accident and his father was sick and could not do any heavy work. From then on, Hau was taken in by his uncle, Ngo Thanh Doan, to raise and provide for his education.
By 2024, Hau's father had passed away due to a serious illness. Hau's already difficult life became even more difficult. However, Hau overcame his circumstances to study well and strive for a brighter future.
When talking about her father and mother, Hau was moved: “There were rainy nights when I missed my father and mother, and I could only cry alone. At that time, I wished that my father and mother were still by my side, that I could have a family reunion meal, and that my father and mother would encourage me to study, and that the family would be together through joys and sorrows.”
Hau understands that the only way to escape from difficulties, to repay the kindness of her parents, who have passed away but are always present in her mind, is through education. For her, every page of a book, every hour of class has a great meaning, not only knowledge but also hope and gratitude. She always tells herself to study well, to try hard to be worthy of the love that her parents have given her, as well as the protection, shelter and nurturing of her uncle for so long.
Mr. Ngo Thanh Doan shared: “Seeing that Hau is still young but in such a pitiful situation, I encouraged and comforted him to try to study well so that his parents in the afterlife can rest in peace. In the future, when Hau goes to study far from home, I will try to take care of him. Because I consider Hau as my own child, I wish that Hau will study well so that after graduating, he will become a useful person for society.”
Touch the dream
Pham Thi Hau is not only a bright spot in terms of academic achievement but also a source of inspiration in terms of will, determination and desire to rise up no matter how difficult the circumstances. In the recent 2025 high school graduation exam, although she was not the valedictorian, her impressive results of 9.5 points in Literature, 9.75 points in History and 9.75 points in Geography are worthy achievements for a long journey of tireless efforts.
The results of the 2025 high school graduation exam have opened the door to university for Hau. Although she could have chosen many different careers with her score, Hau chose the Literature Pedagogy major at Hue University of Education to realize her dream of becoming a literature teacher.
Pham Thi Hau shared: “I dream of standing on the podium, imparting knowledge and passion for learning to future generations. I enrolled in the Literature Pedagogy major at Hue University of Education, because I believe this is the path that will help me realize my dream of bringing knowledge and enthusiasm to students, contributing a small part to the cause of educating people.”
Mr. Dinh Gia Thien, Principal of Phan Boi Chau High School, shared: “Hau is an extremely obedient, gentle student who always tries hard in his studies. The school always encourages and supports Hau throughout his studies. Every year, the school and benefactors take from the scholarship fund to give scholarships to help him overcome difficulties in life.”
In order to commend the efforts of students who always overcome difficulties to strive to study well and create more motivation and encourage the spirit of learning so that they continue to strive to achieve good results in the following school years, on July 19, the People's Committee of Huong Tra Ward, Da Nang City organized a ceremony to commend and reward students who have overcome difficulties and achieved excellent results in the 2024-2025 school year.
Among the 7 disadvantaged students who were honored and rewarded this time was Pham Thi Hau. This is considered a special case because she was orphaned but overcame difficulties to achieve excellent academic results.
Deputy Secretary of the Ward Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Huong Tra Ward Tran Trung Hau shared: "With especially difficult circumstances due to being orphaned by both parents but having excellent academic achievements, Pham Thi Hau, in addition to the 4 million VND bonus received at the commendation ceremony, also receives monthly support of 2 million VND from Quang Nam Urban Environment Joint Stock Company until she completes her studies at Hue University of Education."
