Nguyet An preserves and promotes traditional cultural values

The historical relic of Le Lam temple is preserved by the people.

Phung Son village has 85 households, with 413 people, mainly Dao ethnic people. According to the elders in the village, embroidery is closely associated with the life of the Dao ethnic people. In the past, almost all Dao ethnic women knew how to embroider. From 12 to 16 years old, girls learned embroidery and by the age of 20, they were proficient in embroidery. In recent years, due to the impact of the market economy , the embroidery of the Dao ethnic people in Phung Son village is gradually being forgotten. In order to preserve and promote the embroidery profession, in recent years, the village has strengthened the work of mobilizing people to preserve and promote the traditional embroidery profession. At the same time, artisans are encouraged to actively pass on the profession to the next generation to continue to preserve the unique cultural features of their ethnic group. Thanks to that, many young women in the village have been more active in learning to embroider traditional costumes of their ethnic group.

Ms. Trieu Thi Ha is one of those who are passionate about the traditional embroidery craft of the Dao ethnic group in Phung Son village. She said: “Since I was little, my mother always told me that Dao girls must know how to embroider. Therefore, I always tried my best to learn the craft and at the age of 16, I embroidered clothes for myself and my family members. However, currently, a part of the young people in the village are not interested in the traditional embroidery craft of the ethnic group. This is what makes me worried and troubled. Therefore, I always actively encourage young people to participate in learning the embroidery craft, both teaching the craft and promoting their understanding of the value of the traditional craft left by their ancestors. Currently, many women in the village know how to embroider. They are the successors and preservers of the embroidery craft of the Dao ethnic group.”

“In recent times, Phung Son village has always encouraged artisans to teach traditional cultural values to the younger generation in the village. Encourage households to maintain and promote the three Tet holidays of the year (including Thanh Minh, July 15, and Tet Nam Cung) and wear traditional costumes on holidays, Tet, and major festivals of the village and commune. At the same time, mobilize people to participate in learning Nom Dao script to preserve cultural identity,” said Mr. Trieu Van Bich, head of Phung Son village.

To preserve and promote traditional cultural values, every year Nguyet An commune has developed and implemented a plan to preserve and promote national cultural identity. Mobilizing people, especially artisans and prestigious people in ethnic minorities, to actively participate in activities to preserve cultural identity. Organizing many competitions, performances, cultural and artistic exchanges, contributing to preserving traditional cultural identity, creating motivation to spread the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" more and more widely in residential areas.

With the participation of the Party Committee and the government, traditional cultural values are preserved and promoted by the people in Nguyet An commune. Muong and Dao languages are used in daily communication, the costumes of Muong and Dao ethnic women are used regularly on holidays and Tet. People in the commune always have awareness and responsibility in preserving national identity. Besides, the values of tangible heritages in the commune are preserved and promoted. Currently, the commune has 2 provincial-level historical and cultural relics, including: Cham Lady Temple and Le Lam Temple. Every year, at these relics, local Party Committees and authorities have organized many practical activities to educate about patriotic and revolutionary traditions, raise awareness, and arouse national pride and traditions of the homeland.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nguyet An commune, said: Currently, traditional cultural values are preserved and promoted by ethnic minorities in the commune in their daily lives and passed on to future generations. Promoting the achieved results, Nguyet An commune continues to promote propaganda and education of people's self-awareness in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values. Focus on developing spiritual tourism by connecting historical and cultural relics in the commune, especially historical sites associated with the Lam Son uprising in the early 15th century, such as: Lam Son insurgents' training ground (Lam Son commune), Ban Bu cave (Ngoc Lac commune), Chi Linh mountain (Linh Son commune) ... to attract tourists to visit, admire the architecture and pray for blessings and peace. Organize cultural exchange activities, art performances to honor and educate the traditional culture of the Muong ethnic group, so that people know and are proud of the identity of the nation. Thereby, there are practical activities to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of the homeland.
