Within the framework of the iTECH EXPO 2025 International Technology Fair and Exhibition, Quang Trung Software Park (QTSC) has just coordinated with other units to organize a seminar on "AI and Cyber Security - Challenges and Opportunities in Digital Transformation".
Mr. Tran Huu Dung - Director of Quang Trung Software Park (QTSC), Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association (HCA) - said that artificial intelligence (AI) is clearly present in fields such as healthcare, finance, transportation, education, agriculture , digital transformation and network information security.
However, along with this strong growth comes serious cybersecurity challenges.
Specifically, in Vietnam, data from the National Cyber Security Association shows that in 2024 there will be up to 659,000 cyber security attacks, affecting about 46.15% of agencies and businesses.
Citing the latest report from Fortinet - a US cybersecurity company, Mr. Dung said that in June 2025, automatic scans reached 36,000 times/second, an increase of nearly 17%, of which up to 42% were account hijacking attacks with a total of 1.7 billion leaked credentials.
Mr. Tran Huu Dung, Director of Quang Trung Software Park (QTSC), said that attacks are becoming more sophisticated and tend to increase.
"Attacking campaigns are becoming increasingly sophisticated and tend to increase, targeting information systems of organizations in key sectors such as telecommunications, energy, logistics or securities. The most common form is malware that encrypts data for extortion (ransomware)" - Mr. Dung said.
In addition, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, Head of the Cyber Security Center - QTSC, also pointed out the cybersecurity risks when applying AI into business operations.
According to Mr. Lam, a recent survey shows that up to 66% of organizations see AI as a major change factor, but only 37% have appropriate protection measures. More than 50% of businesses currently lack security expertise, forcing them to use AI to fill the skills gap.
"AI can be exploited for dangerous purposes such as deepfake fraud, phishing or ransomware attacks. This puts both businesses and authorities at risk of data loss and financial damage," said Mr. Lam.
Notably, according to the survey, both government agencies and businesses are likely to be cyber-attacked at least once a year.
Mr. Lam recommended that organizations urgently build a solid security infrastructure, establish an effective network security management and monitoring model, and continuously upgrade the system to proactively respond to and minimize damage from cyber attacks.
