Liverpool explodes 90 million euro 'blockbuster' Ekitike. |
On the afternoon of July 20, journalist Fabrizio Romano said that Liverpool agreed to pay a transfer fee of 90 million euros to own Ekitike. The amount is likely to increase to 95 million euros including additional fees.
The contract between the two parties is valid until June 2031. Previously, the French star had reached a personal agreement with Liverpool. Ekitike only wants to move to Anfield to play football this summer, despite interest from other clubs such as Newcastle United and Manchester United.
Ekitike has just had an impressive season in the Bundesliga, scoring 22 goals and contributing 12 assists in 48 matches, becoming one of the most sought-after stars in Europe at the moment. Possessing speed, technique and diverse finishing ability, Ekitike is considered to be completely suitable for Liverpool's attacking philosophy.
Liverpool have expressed interest in Newcastle strikers Ekitike and Alexander Isak this summer. However, Isak has given the green light to move to Saudi Arabia, forcing Liverpool to turn to Ekitike.
Liverpool had an explosive transfer season when they previously spent nearly 200 million euros on 3 contracts including Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez.
