“Israel carried out an airstrike from the direction of the Mediterranean Sea, west of Latakia, targeting Aleppo International Airport, causing material damage and rendering the airport inoperable,” the ministry added.

Earlier, Israel also carried out simultaneous missile attacks on airports in the Syrian capital Damascus and the city of Aleppo, damaging runways and shutting down both hubs on Thursday. Damascus Airport remains out of action.

The attacks on the airports were aimed at disrupting Iran's supply lines to Syria, sources said.

The Israeli military also said on Saturday that its artillery had retaliated against areas of Syria, after two rockets were fired toward Israeli territory, but landed in open areas.

The Israeli military said Syrian missiles set off sirens in the northern Israeli town of Alma, near the Lebanese border, and in the town of Avnei Eitan in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

Israel also said it had fired an interceptor missile at a "suspicious target" that crossed from Lebanon into Israeli territory. Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah have been exchanging shells in recent days after fighting in the Gaza Strip flared up again.

So Israel has been fighting both Lebanon’s Hezbollah and militants in Syria in recent days. And that means Israel is facing a “four-sided” war, as it attacks Hamas in the Gaza Strip and continues to clash with Palestinians in the West Bank.
