Forecast for today, July 18 and tomorrow, July 19, widespread heat

Since early morning, the weather in Hanoi and the Northern provinces has been hot, with temperatures from 9-10am fluctuating between 30-33 degrees Celsius. It is forecasted that by noon and early afternoon, the temperature may rise to 37-38 degrees Celsius, with intense sunshine lasting until around 5pm before gradually cooling down.

In Hue and the Central provinces such as Quang Tri and Da Nang , the heat appeared early and peaked at noon, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius in some places. The air was dry due to low humidity, and the feeling of heat lasted from 10am to 4pm.

In the central area of Da Nang, the weather today is relatively more pleasant. The morning is cool, the temperature is 27-31 degrees Celsius; at noon it increases to 34-35 degrees Celsius. However, this area is likely to have localized thunderstorms around 2:00 p.m. and after 6:00 p.m., helping to cool down temporarily.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting and international forecasting agencies, today is the peak of the heat wave in mid-July. Both the North and Central regions are in the high temperature warning zone, with the ultraviolet radiation (UV) index at dangerous levels.

People, especially outdoor workers, are advised to drink water, limit direct exposure to sunlight between 11am and 3pm, wear long-sleeved clothing, sunglasses and cover up carefully when moving outdoors.

The heat also increases the demand for electricity, putting pressure on the infrastructure system. Experts recommend not using many electrical devices at the same time during peak hours to avoid overloading.

It is forecasted that tomorrow, July 19, the heat wave will continue, but the temperature will not decrease much. The midlands and mountainous areas of the North may have showers in the late afternoon, but not enough to completely end the heat wave. The Central region is expected to cool down from July 21.
