(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of August 9, the Department of Culture and Sports held a meeting of the Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of the 2024 Hai Phong City Swimming Competition for Youth and Children and the Swimming for Drowning Prevention and Injury Prevention for Children. Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports Pham Thi To Trang, Head of the Organizing Committee chaired the meeting. Also attending the meeting were representatives of the Department's leaders, departments, branches and related units.

The 2024 Hai Phong City Swimming and Drowning Prevention and Control Competition for Children and Children is jointly organized by the Department of Culture and Sports, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, and the City Water Sports Federation. The competition will have 25 units with nearly 400 athletes participating. The tournament will open at 7:30 a.m. on August 12, 2024 at Ben Binh Swimming Pool (No. 1 Nguyen Thuong Hien, Minh Khai Ward, Hong Bang District, Hai Phong City).

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Tournament Pham Thi To Trang spoke at the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports Pham Thi To Trang emphasized: The 2024 Hai Phong City Swimming and Rescue Competition for Children and Children to Prevent Accidents and Injuries is organized to encourage students, teenagers and children in the city to actively participate in swimming and diving training, contributing to improving their health, equipping them with knowledge and skills for safety in the water environment, preventing drowning accidents in daily life and caused by storms and floods. Through the Tournament, it is aimed at discovering, nurturing and selecting athletes with talent for swimming and diving for the city's sports.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports requested that the Departments, sectors, branches and units coordinate to properly implement the assigned tasks. The City Aquatics Federation pays attention to the refereeing work, ensuring seriousness, accuracy, impartiality and creating conditions for athletes to compete with all their might. The participating units ensure the health and safety of the athletes participating in the competition, carefully prepare the conditions for the tournament to take place successfully./.
