Tay Ninh strengthens control of two African swine fever outbreaks
According to information from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tay Ninh province, two outbreaks of African swine fever in Tan Hoi commune and Binh Minh ward are being closely monitored, and it has not been 21 days since the discovery to declare the end of the epidemic.
No new outbreaks have been reported in the locality over the past week. However, authorities are continuing to monitor and control the two outbreak areas.
In Tan Hoi commune, the outbreak occurred at a high-tech pig farm. As of July 28, about 417 pigs, weighing a total of 5,776 kg, had been destroyed. Currently, the farm has about 1,000 pigs that are being quarantined and given special care to increase their resistance and has temporarily stopped importing new pigs. Cleaning and disinfecting barns and surrounding areas are carried out regularly.
In Binh Minh ward, a farm owned by Mr. Nguyen Van Quang recorded an outbreak with 47 pigs forced to be destroyed. Measures to disinfect the surrounding environment are still maintained to completely eliminate the pathogen.
Since the beginning of the year, the entire Tay Ninh province has recorded African swine fever in 24 households in 14 communes and wards, with a total of 1,181 pigs (nearly 44 tons) destroyed. All outbreaks have been handled according to procedures, ensuring to limit the risk of spreading.
The provincial agricultural sector is stepping up epidemic prevention measures, including epidemiological surveillance, early detection and handling of new outbreaks, increased vaccination and environmental sanitation in high-risk areas. At the same time, propaganda work is focused on, instructing people to strictly apply biosecurity measures in livestock farming and transportation.
