This morning (December 15), prolonged heavy rain caused a landslide at Khanh Le Pass on National Highway 27C through Son Thai Commune (Khanh Vinh District). Rocks and soil from the hill poured down and blocked the road. Vehicles could not pass the landslide and had to turn around.

Traffic routes from Nha Trang to Da Lat and vice versa are interrupted.

A resident at the landslide site told VietNamNet that the area was raining and foggy. Water from the hill was pouring down. Thousands of cubic meters of soil were still sliding down the road.

Son Thai Commune Police, Khanh Vinh District Police and many other forces were mobilized to set up warning signs at both ends of the pass and send people to block and notify passing vehicles.

Authorities are processing and cleaning up the scene.

National Highway 27C is over 120 km long, connecting Nha Trang City - Da Lat. Meanwhile, Khanh Le Pass is 1,700 m high, 33 km long, has many sharp turns, high cliffs, and deep ravines of 300 m in some places. This pass has been repeatedly eroded during heavy rains and floods.

Passenger cars lose brakes on steep mountain passes, traffic police share experience in preventing them According to authorities, the reason why passenger cars in particular and cars in general "lose brakes" on steep mountain passes is often due to the driver's lack of experience, going downhill in high gear and then applying the brakes.
