At 3:00 p.m. this afternoon (July 20), a tornado swept through the communes of Chieng Ken, Khanh Yen and Van Ban, causing the roofs of many houses to be blown off.

In Chieng Ken commune, the storm blew off the roofs of 5 houses and broke many fruit trees and crops. In particular, the storm knocked down 1 xui tree and 1 ancient lim tree in Ken temple, causing damage to some other items in Ken temple.

According to Mr. Luong Manh Toan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Chieng Ken Commune: Up to this point, the total damage has not been fully counted, but according to initial reports from the villages, 5 houses had their roofs blown off or damaged (including 2 houses with completely blown roofs); 1 electric pole fell. Currently, the local government has mobilized police and militia forces to the villages to support people in temporarily repairing their houses, moving their belongings to safe places and clearing trees to ensure traffic safety and power grid.

In Khanh Yen commune, initial statistics from the commune People's Committee showed that the storm caused 12 houses to have their roofs blown off (3 houses had their roofs completely blown off), 2 electric poles to fall, and many trees to break, affecting electrical works and public works.

In Van Ban commune, the storm caused the roofs of 5 houses to be blown off (2 houses had their roofs completely blown off), 1 low-voltage electric pole to fall, and several trees along traffic routes and fruit trees of households to fall.
