During the launch of singer Phuong Nga's new MV "Where Childhood Comes Back" , People's Artist Pham Phuong Thao shared frankly about her colleagues.
Pham Phuong Thao knew Phuong Nga nearly 10 years ago through the introduction of a journalist. She was impressed with her junior because she was a cheerful and individualistic person.
Pham Phuong Thao believes that one of the reasons why Phuong Nga has not yet become famous is because of her lack of clear direction. However, the female singer did not hesitate to praise Phuong Nga's voice: "Nga has a thick voice, as soon as she sings, you can feel the emotion, without having to try too hard to express it. Nga's vocal range is wide, she can sing many genres, clearly expressing the depth of the region.
Nga is from the Central region, but sings Northern folk songs, especially melodies like Sam… excellently. Nga can sing very well in her own way, full of emotion," Pham Phuong Thao shared.
Talking about her female colleague's new MV, Pham Phuong Thao highly appreciated the emotions that Phuong Nga's voice brought, and also praised the new composition of musician Vu Ngoc Dam.
"The song is very good, I even want to ask the author to let me sing it again because the song is short, concise, and full of emotions. The lyrics are simple, the melody is familiar, when listening to it, I see the image of my homeland and parents appear. To me, that is what touches my deepest emotions," Pham Phuong Thao commented.
According to Pham Phuong Thao, Phuong Nga still has a lot of untapped potential. She still hopes that one day, Phuong Nga will find the right direction.
MV Where my childhood comes back was directed by Duong Lan Huong, with the participation of actress Huyen Sam.
Musician Vu Ngoc Dam said that at first he was hesitant about folk music - a genre he had never tried much, but it was the empathy in conversation with Phuong Nga that inspired the creation of Where My Childhood Comes Back.
This is a song with a gentle folk color, not too sophisticated, but imbued with emotions about memories of the countryside and parents.
Director Duong Lan Huong - who has collaborated with many folk singers - said that this is a project she put a lot of effort into despite the limited budget: "I consider Nga as my younger sister, so I accepted to make this MV without any calculation. Even though the folk material is familiar, I still wanted to do it differently, creating a unique highlight compared to the products I have made for Phuong Thao, Bui Le Man or Huyen Trang".
Playing the role of the mother in the MV, actress Huyen Sam was moved: "I accepted the role because of my feelings for director Duong Lan Huong and I never expected to work with such a lovely singer. In real life, Nga is playful and humorous, but when she sings, her voice is full of depth and warmth."
