Vietnam women's volleyball team lost, unable to reach the final in Shanghai

On the evening of July 18, despite their best efforts, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team still lost to the Netherlands U21 team at the Shanghai Future Star 2025 Tournament.

This is a rare match in this year's tournament where fans get to watch the Vietnamese women's volleyball team compete live. And coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa's team brought memorable moments.

In set 1, they created a dramatic chase despite facing a taller opponent. Unfortunately, a mistake at the decisive moment caused them to lose 23-25.

However, in the next 2 sets, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team significantly overcame their mistakes. They had many impressive combinations, fooling the Dutch U21 blockers.

The 25-20, 25-23 victories opened up hope for a ticket to the final match of Shanghai Future Star 2025. However, in set 4, U21 Netherlands rose up at the right time. They accelerated in the final points to win 25-23, bringing the match into set 5.

Here, the young team from Europe took advantage of their physical strength and physique to win 15-12, thereby winning a ticket to the final match against U21 China. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will compete for third place against U21 Shanghai.

At Shanghai Future Star, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team did not bring their strongest squad. Stars such as Thanh Thuy, Bich Tuyen, Lam Oanh, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Le Thanh Thuy... were given a rest after "working hard" at VTV Cup.

Instead, opportunities were given to the reserve group such as Kim Thoa, Pham Thi Hien, Nguyen Thi Phuong and some young athletes. Almost only middle blocker Bich Thuy and main blocker Nguyen Thi Uyen are the first team's hitters participating in Shanghai Future Star 2025.

Leading the team in this tournament is not coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet but Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa and two assistants Karl Lim and Nguyen Ngoc Dung.

Shanghai Future Star 2025 takes place in Shanghai (China) from July 13 to 19. Group A includes the U21 teams of China, Vietnam, France and Bauru (Brazil).

Group B includes Shanghai U21, Slovenia youth team, Netherlands youth team and Canada youth team.

This tournament only broadcasts matches featuring the home team, so it will be difficult for Vietnamese fans to watch the athletes compete on television.
