MU escapes the burden of paying high salary for Rashford. |
According to reputable sources from The Athletic , Barca made an offer through an intermediary and received an initial nod from MU. The Catalan team paid the entire salary of the English striker during the loan period, more than 325,000 pounds/week.
Barca are facing financial difficulties, but borrowing Rashford instead of buying him outright gives the club some breathing room. However, agreeing to pay the 27-year-old's full salary shows a great level of determination from the Camp Nou team.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano used the familiar phrase "Here we go" to confirm the transfer was completed on the evening of July 19. "The details will be completed today. Rashford will go to Barcelona for a medical in the coming days," Romano added.
Coach Hansi Flick wants to add quality wingers, as the current squad only has Lamine Yamal and Raphinha who are really stable in the 4-3-3 formation. Rashford can play well on both the left wing and the center forward, making him an ideal target, especially when Barca misses out on both Nico Williams and Luis Diaz.
MU has not officially announced Rashford's departure, but he is among five players the club has allowed to actively seek new destinations this summer. However, Rashford still returned to Carrington on July 8 to train separately.
Rashford has made 426 appearances and scored 138 goals for United since making his first-team debut in 2015. If the deal is completed, it will mark the end of a long journey between Rashford and Old Trafford.
