(CLO) Tropical Storm Trami has killed at least 26 people and forced more than 150,000 to flee their homes in the Philippines, officials said on Thursday.
Trami, also known locally as Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, brought heavy rains across the main island of Luzon, causing widespread flooding and landslides.
The state weather bureau said the storm, packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour, was moving westward through the northern Cordillera mountains toward the South China Sea. The agency warned of very heavy to very heavy rains, flooding, landslides and storm surges in several northern Philippine provinces.

Most of the deaths from the storm in the past few days were due to drowning and landslides in the central Bicol region, including Naga City, where 14 people were reported dead as of Thursday, officials said.
The Philippine government has ordered businesses and schools in the typhoon's path to close as a precaution against heavy rains and flooding.
The Philippine civil defense agency said more than 163,000 people were taking shelter in evacuation centers, mostly in Bicol, as residents fled their homes after floodwaters rose to rooftop levels.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines said Thursday that at least a dozen flights across the country were canceled due to the storm. The Philippine central bank canceled foreign exchange trading and currency operations for the second consecutive day.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF), at 4:00 a.m. on October 25, the center of storm Trami was located at about 17.0 degrees North latitude; 119.0 degrees East longitude, in the eastern sea of the North East Sea. The strongest wind near the center of the storm is level 9-10 (75-102 km/h), gusting to level 12. Moving westward, speed about 10 km/h.
Storm development warning (from 72 to 120 hours): From the next 72 to 120 hours, the storm will move more slowly, possibly changing direction to Southeast at 5-10km per hour, then possibly changing direction to East, with intensity gradually weakening.
Forecast of storm impact : The eastern sea area of the North East Sea has strong winds of level 7, then increasing to level 8, the area near the storm's eye has winds of level 9-10 (75-102km/h), gusts of level 12, waves 5.0-7.0m high, the area near the storm's eye has 7.0-9.0m; very rough seas.
Ships operating in the above mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by storms, whirlwinds, strong winds and large waves.
