The National Youth Chess Championship is one of the most important professional tournaments for young athletes in the national chess competition system. The champions will officially represent Vietnam in international chess tournaments in 2026.

This year's tournament has the participation of 443 athletes from 36 units nationwide. Among them, there are many notable faces who have just won medals in the 2025 World Youth Chess Championship such as: Nguyen Nam Kiet, Tran Hoang Bao An, Duong Vu Anh, Tong Thai Hoang An, Hoang Tan Vinh, Nguyen Xuan Phuong, Nguyen Bao Nam, Nguyen Thanh Huong, Nguyen Binh Vy, along with many national and international young masters....
With the competition format of 9 rounds according to the Swiss system; drawing lots using the Swiss-manager program; the tournament has 80 sets of individual medals for men and women in 10 age groups in 4 competition events: Standard chess, rapid chess, blitz chess, super blitz chess.

The male and female individuals ranked first, second and third in the age categories of standard chess, rapid chess and blitz chess will receive gold, silver and bronze medals from the Vietnam Sports Administration; the male and female individuals ranked first, second and third in the age categories of super blitz chess and tied for third in the age categories of standard chess, rapid chess, blitz chess and super blitz chess will receive bronze medals from the Vietnam Chess Federation; the results of the tournament will be sent to FIDE for international rating calculation.
The 2025 National Youth Chess Championship received a total sponsorship value of more than 400 million VND from Greenbia Kidsmore. This is considered one of the efforts of the Vietnam Chess Federation in socialization work, seeking resources to help professionalize the tournaments. The tournament is expected to close on July 28, 2025.
